With its roots in the Pittsburgh Partnership for Neighborhood Development (PPND), Neighborhood Allieslaunched as a community development organization with a difference: They use a uniquely holistic approach. Neighborhood Allies is equal parts funder, lender, connector and consultant in order to be a real ally to distressed and transitional communities in the Pittsburgh region.
Their vision is a Pittsburgh full of thriving, healthy communities that are livable for all. As Neighborhood Allies President Presley Gillespie notes in his introductory letter, the organization does this by “help[ing] position Pittsburghers to change their own lives and their own neighborhoods by delivering the right mix of financial, intellectual, human and social capital.”
Neighborhood Allies has recently released their 2015 Report to the Community. It details the work of their first full year of operations, shares the progress they’ve made, and gives their vision and strategy to achieve their mission.
Since 2014, Neighborhood Allies has invested over $2 million dollars directly into neighborhoods. And their 2014 and 2015 Catalytic Grants have leveraged $3,955,367 of additional investment in neighborhoods!
This organization has six priority neighborhoods:
