Inaugural Event Honors Exemplary Local Work Being Done to Build Healthy Neighborhoods In PittsburghLeave a Comment
On Thursday, November 16th, Neighborhood Allies hosted the 1st Annual Healthy Neighborhoods Celebration where we honored and celebrated examples of exemplary local work being done to create positive social impact in low-income communities in Pittsburgh.
Over 150 attendees, ranging from local residents, to nonprofit professionals, to artists and executives joined us for this inaugural event at the beautiful Carnegie Museum of Art in Oakland. The event was created to be a platform for honoring and lifting up the people and organizations who are working hard every day to build healthy neighborhoods across Pittsburgh, and that’s just what it did.
Using Neighborhood Allies’ Healthy Neighborhoods Framework as the inspiration for this event, six awards were given in the following categories–Market Confidence, Quality of Life, Neighborhood Image, Community Ownership, Equitable Development, and Ally of the Year. Each award was accompanied by a short video, highlighting the awardees work and how they are contributing to building Healthy Neighborhoods. We also celebrated the 2nd cohort of graduates of our Real Estate Co-Powerment Series with a mini ceremony, and showcased the artists and projects from our Temporary Public Art & Placemaking Program, as part of the celebration event.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make this event a great success–to our awardees, for your dedication and hard work; to all of attendees and allies who spent the afternoon with us and support our mission in so many ways; and, to our event sponsors–especially our Presenting Sponsor, PNC Bank, for your generous support!
Congratulations to our 2017 Healthy Neighborhood Awardees!
Thank you to our generous event sponsors:
