Thank you, McAuley Minstries!Leave a Comment
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our newest funding partner, McAuley Minstries for supporting Neighborhood Allies with a $50,000 grant to support our Fellowship Program!
The Neighborhood Allies Community Development Fellowship Program aims to bring the next generation of community development leaders into our field by building a strong pipeline of talented, minority professionals from underserved communities. This funding from McAuley will enable us to hire a third Fellow in September, 2015 who will be focused on local leadership development.
The role of the Community Leadership Development Fellow is to support the identification, engagement, and empowerment of local leaders in distressed and transitional neighborhoods. Under the general direction of the President and the Program Manager for Economic Opportunity, the Community Leadership Development Fellow will work with community-based organizations to understand leadership needs and connect leaders to resources that improve their ability to influence reinvestments that affect them.
The Fellow will also help coordinate the newly created Community Leadership Forum, which is a body of grassroots leaders representing Neighborhood Allies’ communities of focus where community leaders and managers can learn and share experiences about how to grow fun, productive, and empowered communities. The Community Leadership Forum serves as a vehicle of information exchange and best practices between neighborhood leaders and Neighborhood Allies’ staff, as well as a “safe space” to discuss failures and lessons learned. Additionally, the Forum helps design and decide on projects that will receive support through Neighborhood Allies’ new Grassroots Grant Program, which will launch in late 2015.
Thank you to McAuley for this support! #LetsBeAllies
