Neighborhood Allies Receives $200,000 Grant from the Hillman FoundationLeave a Comment
A two-year, 200,000 grant from the Hillman Foundation will support our collaborative Economic Opportunity work!
We’d like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank the Hillman Foundation for their critical support. This investment will support Neighborhood Allies’ Economic Opportunity work, which is focused on improving the lives of low-income residents, as well as our Asset Building Network which helps struggling families in Pittsburgh by connecting them to the information, resources, tools and personalized assistance that will enable them to realize their dreams.
Through our Asset Building Network (ABN), we promote the following initiatives that provide opportunities to families to stabilize their finances and acquire the assets needed to become financially secure:
- Financial Opportunity Centers (FOCs) with our national partner, LISC, we bundle three core services together – employment services, access to benefits and financial coaching – to improve the financial bottom line for low- to moderate-income individuals. Staff teams work with clients to boost earnings, reduce expenses and build credit.
- Financial Empowerment Centers (FECs) with the Mayor’s Office of the City of Pittsburgh, we will offer professional, one-on-one financial counseling at social service agencies as a public service to enable residents to address their financial challenges and needs and plan for their futures.
