If you live in one of these communities—Allentown, Beltzhoover, Hill District, Homewood, Larimer, Lincoln-Lemington, Knoxville, Millvale, Wilkinsburg—you have the opportunity to identify and support residents by learning about their project ideas and deciding on projects to fund!

Love My Neighbor!, an initiative founded by Neighborhood Allies and led by the Grassroots Grantmaking Committee (GGC), invests in resident-led projects that aim to improve neighborhoods and engage neighbors. Love My Neighbor! reverses traditional grantmaking practices by placing decision-making power in the hands of residents. The Grassroots Grantmaking Committee, a body of residents from Neighborhood Allies’ target communities, decides on which projects to fund across Pittsburgh. Throughout their work, one aspect is unwavering: The GGC’s role is not to be above residents trying to lift them up; rather, their role is to stand by them, finding ways to support their current work and aspirations.

By engaging with a training curriculum and in discussion with other practitioners, GGC members are eager to learn new and different ways to strategically invest and solve challenging problems in communities. The role of the GGC is to review proposals, meet with other committee members, interview Love My Neighbor! applicants, and make funding decisions. The GGC represents Neighborhood Allies in the following neighborhoods: Allentown, Beltzhoover, Hill District, Homewood, Larimer, Lincoln-Lemington, Knoxville, Millvale, Wilkinsburg. This is a 3 year commitment of at least 16 meeting per year.
