Call For Grassroots Grantmaking Committee (GGC) Nominations!

Interested in serving on a committee that funds resident creativity across Pittsburgh neighborhoods?

If you live in one of these communities – Allentown, Beltzhoover, Hill District, Homewood, Larimer, Lincoln-Lemington, Knoxville, Millvale, Wilkinsburg – you have the opportunity to identify, support, and empower residents’ projects by learning about their project ideas and deciding on projects to fund!

Members of the GGC awarded $47,000 to support 25 resident-driven projects thus far in 2017.

A GGC member is an individual who is a weaver. A weaver is someone that learns about new ideas, resources, and opportunities and shares—or weaves—them with the relevant people and associations in their neighborhoods. A GGC member may have a focus or specific area of interest; however, the GGC member notices the incredible importance of improving communities holistically, caring about your issue area, but remaining conscious and active in the other relevant and interlocking spheres of life impacting neighbors. By engaging with a curriculum and in discussion with other practitioners, GGC members are eager to learn new and different ways to strategically invest and solve challenging problems in communities.

The Grassroots Grantmaking Committee (GGC) empowers leaders to make investment decisions that positively impact their communities via the Love My Neighbor! Grant program. The role of the Neighborhood Allies Grantmaking Committee member is to review proposals, meet with other committee member to discuss proposals, interview grantseekers and make funding decisions. The GGC member represents Neighborhood Allies in Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods to promote applications and recommend other committee members. This is a 2 year commitment of at least 16 meetings per year.
