PopUp! Pittsburgh 2017 — INSIDE OUT Carrick
May 6 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Leadership Development Initiative (LDI) class XXIV is working closely with the Carrick community and Economic Development South to host a PopUp! Pittsburgh event on May 6, 2017 at the Historic Dairy District Marketplace. PopUp! Pittsburgh will include an independently organized INSIDE OUT group action, a public art installation that captures the faces of those who call Carrick home to symbolize the past, present and future of community and celebrate its residents.
This art installation will be part of INSIDE OUT, a global art participatory project started by the TED Prize Winner French artist JR and inspired by his large-format street pastings, to place emphasis on the people and their stories behind each action. To date, more than 260,000 people in 129 countries have participated in INSIDE OUT, and LDI XXIV is thrilled to work with the community to add Carrick to the map. The art installation will be unveiled at the May 6th PopUp! Pittsburgh event.
Adults will eat, play, and engage the stories of Carrick. Activities for children and youth will inspire new generations to tell their stories.
PopUp! Pittsburgh is powered by Leadership Development Initiative XXIV, a program of Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. presented by Huntington Bank, with support from Neighborhood Allies, Economic Development South, and the Birmingham Foundation. INSIDE OUT Carrick is an independent group action organized by LDI XXIV.
